How to Learn CS2 Grenade Lineups Fast
Most players don't have a lineup problem, they have a retention problem. You watch a lineup, hit it once in a bot match, and lose it a week later because it was never actually drilled. Here's a routine that sticks.
Learn in batches of three, not by map
Trying to learn "all of Mirage" in one sitting is why nothing sticks. Pick three lineups you'll realistically throw this week — one smoke you need every half, one flash for an entry, one molotov for map control — and drill only those. Add the next three once the first batch is automatic.
Say the throw out loud before you throw it
Before each rep, state the crosshair placement, the movement (standing, jumpthrow, run-throw), and the key out loud or in your head. This forces you to encode the lineup as a sequence of decisions instead of a muscle-memory blur that falls apart the moment the angle looks slightly different in a live round.
Drill in a private server, not a bot match
Bot matches restart the round on their own timer and don't let you rapid-fire the same throw. Use sv_cheats 1 on a local/private server so you can noclip back to your spot instantly, throw again, and get 10-15 reps in the time a bot match gives you two.
Test yourself from a moving start
Once a lineup is smooth from a dead stop, walk into the spot from a random direction and throw it cold. Real rounds never give you a clean, stationary setup — if the lineup only works when you tiptoe into the exact same pixel every time, it isn't learned yet.
Re-test after a week, not after a session
A lineup that works at the end of a 20-minute session usually just lived in short-term memory. The real test is opening the game a week later, cold, and hitting it on the first try. If you miss it, that's not a failure — it just means it needs one more short session, not a full relearn.
Keep a shortlist, not a wall of lineups
Saving 40 lineups you'll never throw in a real round is worse than saving 6 you actually use. Lineupr's map view lets you filter by type and keep your own personal shortlist separate from the official ones, so your list stays to what you'll actually reach for mid-round.
